This month we explore the inquiry, "I’m curious to learn more about not taking prenatal vitamins."

Popping prenatals is one of the first steps women immersed in popular medicine—and even the wellness industry—are implored to take for their preconception and prenatal care. There is a harsh underlying message that the body simply can’t provide what it needs without them and there’s always a “good reason” at the ready to support this—“The soil is depleted!” “There’s more stress than ever before!” “Everything is toxic!”

I’m going to lay out some reasons why I think all women should reconsider their relationship with prenatal vitamins (specifically, although this can apply to all supplements) and some first steps we can take to reconnecting with our nourishment.
